Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1 Corinthians 1:20-25
Are we forgetting the Gospel message? I sometime feel as if we preachers are more focused on teaching people how to be successful here on earth, turning the church into more of a place of motivational speaking. That is fine sometimes, we all need a little motivation but are we on the right subject on a Sunday morning? I don’t imagine that it was the intent of the founders of the New Testament church to give sermons on “Don’t Make Mountains out of Molehills”, “The Importance of Quiet Time”, “7 habits of good neighbors”, or “Dealing with distractions”.
This is frustrating at times because I know that we are an End time church, waiting on the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Time is short people. Now I know what you’re thinking, “This must be some bible thumping republican, writing at 3 am in the morning in his pajamas about his Jeessus” and your right however, is the gospel message being lost to social engineering, basically forget about that pesky subject of sin and hell, and please don’t bring up blood I just ate…no need to talk about abortion or gay marriage. Just stop worrying about those things. The world has told us to mind our own business and we have. We have stopped preaching the word that will really motivate people to live their best life, and while doing it, to keep running for Christ. We need the word that’s going to tell us who Jesus is and who we are to him. I read a story about how Atheist have Sunday services now and I wondered why? Many of our Christian churches don’t even crack open a bible, not alone speak about the cleansing blood of Jesus. Paul states in Colossians 1:28 “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” God wants us to Proclaim, warn and teach people within our spear of influence Jesus, and brothers and sisters if we don’t people will die in the same condition as before they started going to our churches and their blood is on our hands!
Is your church preparing you for the return of Jesus by teaching you about the blood of Christ and how to follow him or is your church teaching you how to be a good person living comfortable here on earth (Those are two different messages).

Gethsemane means oils Press. It is very probable that at, or near this place, was a very public olive press, where they used to squeeze the olives, for the oil of them. It is possible that some of us are going though a pressing time, where things seem like it can’t get any better. When you have looked everywhere else for comfort God is there waiting.
After reading this passage I am drawn to verse 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.” And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”
This is the relationship that God wants to have with us. Jesus being equal to the father prayed about his sorrow and sought comfort in God. We should also be able to seek Gods comfort and counsel in time of great sorrow and worry. In him we have a great counselor. We have an awesome picture of the relation between God and the son by how Jesus inquires of Gods will for his life. Although equal he understood his role in God’s plan for the world. I am learning to seek God in all thing Matthew 6:33 and trust in his plan for my life. I have come to understand that without God in my life I am bound to fall into pride and fail. The eternal harmony that is shown between the father, the Son and the Holy Spirit guides me in my life to have a greater relationship with God the father though Jesus Christ. I must remember that he is there and I only must seek out his plan through prayer and the indwelling Holy Spirit that guides me in my day to day walk with God. Taking no thought for my life. Not about the length of it; but refer it to God to lengthen or shorten it as he pleases; our times are in his hand, and they are in the best hand there is. I try not to worry about the comforts of this life; but leave it to God to make it bitter or sweet as he pleases. Whatever happens I can follow Jesus example and say let your will be done.
he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, 29 “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; 30 for my eyes have seen your salvation 31 that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.”
In the verse we read about Simeon who had spent most of is life waiting for the manifestation of a promise of one who would comfort Israel. The bible calls him a devote man and full of the Holy Spirit. It was revealed to him that he would see the Christ before he died and in the 28 verse without anyone saying anything he recognizes Christ. Simeons’ whole life was devoted to waiting for the manifestation of Gods promises, For Gods word to become flesh in his life. Confessing his faith, he says that this Child in his arms was the Savior, the promise of God made flesh. What peace he must have had, that he even proclaims that he is now ready to depart this world. How does he react to God in his life? He bids farewell to this world and its issues, its troubles, pain and heartache. Once you have meet Jesus in the flesh all there is left to do, is to live and die in him, to bask in his love and peace. What a blessing it is to have the Holy Spirit that reveals Jesus to us and teaches us how to apply Jesus to our lives. Without the Holy Spirit we would not recognize the son, therefore we would not know the father and witness his love as we do though Jesus in our lives.
God, thank you for the Holy Spirit that revealed Jesus in my life. Help me to recognize when your word and your promises becomes flesh and to have peace until that day. Amen
Did you bid farewell to the world when you met Jesus? What haven’t you given up yet?
In Zechariah 3:1, the high priest Joshua stands before the Angel of the Lord and on side of him is Satan bringing accusations against him. It amazes me how many times I hear God tell us that we are forgiven of our past sins. Yet still, I doubt that forgiveness, how could a Holy God use me when I have done so much wrong in my life? The enemy would have me believe that grace was never meant for me. In doubting that grace and forgiveness we put our savior back on the cross. Like Joshua we are acquitted, not because the accusation of Satan was false, but out of the love of God and the sacrifice that he made for you and me, we are saved, redeemed, cleansed and made free! We are given new robes, clean and white, a representation of the new life we have under the blood. So I walk in that forgiveness and the Lord rebukes the enemy when he brings up my past to hinder my worship and walk with God. Thank you God for the blood of Christ that has freed me from the sins of my past, remove any shame or doubt that the enemy could use to hold me as a slave again. In Jesus Name Amen.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For byf him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
Jesus was a good teacher, but is and was so much more then that. When the bible says that he is the creator of everything. I believe it because I believe God’s word. I know what he created in me and I have no doubt who is. Like he told Peter “flesh and blood” don’t reveal who he is but when you seek him out, to have a relationship with him, when he meets you at your worst and you have called every other name and no one shows up but Jesus, you will know who he is.
This is such a powerful passage lets break it down
1) Christ the first Born
At first sight this seems to compare his position to the family of creatures as the eldest such as a birthright, but it is shown not to be the intention in the next verse, which talks about Christ being not just before all creation but creator. The title implies priority in existence and supremacy. It applies to the Eternal Word and not to His incarnation.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3
2) What Godly abilities are attributed to Christ in this passage? How would you answer a person who says that Jesus is only a god?
The passage stated that Jesus created all things, in heaven and in earth. It goes on to say visible and invisible; this includes the creation of the spirit world. This adds to and explains more about John 1:1-3. If we are to believe the bible we cannot pick and choose the things we want to believe and the thing we discard. The bible is clear, I believe, on what the apostles believed and the word was made flesh.
Some became fools through their rebellious ways
and suffered affliction because of their iniquities.
They loathed all food
and drew near the gates of death.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
He sent out his word and healed them;
he rescued them from the grave. Psalms 107:17-20
In the last month, a member of my family was diagnosed with a brain tumor and has gone completely blind. For years, we as a family have done our best to reach him with Gods word of redemption and healing, but he refused to hear it. Turning his back on his family, He lived as a man without a God and without any need or desire for redemption. As a child I remember seeing him rip a bible in two and also threw bibles in the trash. I prayed for him, my family prayed for him. We prayed that one day he would surrender his heart over to God and be saved.
He has always been a self sufficient and strong man detached from his family as a whole, so when he woke up and was unable to see, it was a shock to everyone. Here was a man that was self sufficient, strong, and detached; now needing the same people that he abused and treated unkindly for years. God exposed the unforgiveness in my heart and I needed healing and deliverance just like my father.
It’s wonderful to see God’s unconditional love, his grace and humility at work. To not only see those at work in my father, but to see it at work in us and in me! God is healing, not only my father but is using this situation to heal us all. We all needed to be healed, to have the bonds of unforgiveness destroyed in our life and there is no other way to do that, but to put us in the position to show grace and give mercy. This is a new beginning for my family. Yes, we have a lot of work to do, but my father called me yesterday to talk about the goodness of God and told me that he has given his life over to Christ. He believes in his heart that his sins are forgiven and he will be able see again. He believes in Jesus’ healing ability that is also my prayer for me.
Thank you God for your grace and love and for showing me the places in my heart that unforgiveness still lived. We are asking for a Complete Healing for my father and in all of us, heal us from the inside out. In Jesus name Amen
